Just Planted

Recently Jane Jones Landscapes completed a project in Balwyn, Victoria. Whole project planning began in early March of this year and back yard design implementation in May.

The existing back yard of the property consisted of an old 50s style garden that lacked an outdoor entertaining area and space for the client’s children to play. The garden required a shed and room for the children’s trampoline.

(BEFORE)

For the garden space to be most effective it needed to be leveled for easy access and movement. Excavation would have been necessary to complete this because of existing concrete and paving. However, rather than proceeding with this option we choose to build a large timber deck, avoiding excavation and creating a one leveled outdoor space with plenty of room for entertaining and the children to play.

The brief for the garden design was simple and functional so we pulled out all existing planting except for two large trees. The shed and service area is designed to blend into the deck creating balance throughout the garden design.

Once the garden begins to take shape and the magnolias gather some height, the garden will have more structure and provide the client with a private outdoor environment that is easy to maintain and suits their lifestyle.
